"Be still and know that I am God." -- Psalm 45 (46)
St Romanos Orthodox Hermitage began in 2015 as a small monastic brotherhood that provides a simple ascetic life of prayer and fasting with daily monastic services. It incorporates Eastern Orthodox monastic liturgical practices and the "Royal Way" of monasticism -- the preferred form of monasticism advocated by St Paisios, St Peter of Damascus, and Fr Seraphim Rose. St Romanos is a canonical Hermitage under the spiritual patronage of His Eminence, Archbishop Alexander (Golitzin), Archbishop of Dallas, the South, and the Bulgarian Diocese of the Orthodox Church of America (OCA). St Romanos Hermitage makes use of both Byzantine and Russian musical practices as well as music original to itself. Music is one of two main focuses of the hermitage, intertwined with the other main focus -- to live a humble and ascetic life of quietude and prayer.
